Do People That Get Addicted to Drugs Get Addicted Cuz They Hate Their Life?
Question by average joe named joe: Do people that get addicted to drugs get addicted cuz they hate their life?
Is there people that started doing it for fun and it ruined their life?
Almost all of the times I’ve heard of drug addiction it’s cuz they use it because they hate their life. So they use drugs to escape.
Do you know or did you get addicted because you just liked doing it?
I think it’s so stupid that people say they do it to be cool… I think most people are at least curious. Like I am curious, no one would just say I’m gonna do this cuz it will make me so cool.

People get addicted to drugs because the drugs are narcotics and have that hold on people. I know of no one who at a young age wanted to be a drug addict. When a person begins to take drugs, it is never their goal to get addicted. I’m sure that there may be some people who want to escape their lives, but I think the majority start taking drugs recreationally.
a lot of people do it for all of those reasons…everyone is different..grandfathers,dad,mothers,aunts,cousins,teens — they all suffer….i use to think in a stereotypical way…..that it was a type of person…but i lost my friend to heroin he was a good “straight edged” kid..but when the vicodin stopped working he went to the next thing…anyway…i miss him…

If you have it figured out, why ask?

I’ve never been addicted, or dependent. I know quite a few that are/ have been. The reasons they started were all as different as they are.
Try it and see for yourself.
“Cool” in this context is to be one of the crowd, to do what your friends are doing, to not be an “outsider”. To succumb to peer pressure.
Dude, trust this coming from a teen. People do it to be cool, that’s it. It’s not addicting at all, thats an excuse to do it again. I’m SE cause i think that stuff is stupid, but 3 of my friends said this, and they don’t know each other. (they used to be druggies)
being an addict ends up making you hate your life…usually curiosity is what gets someone to try it….
People never set out to be drug abusers or alcoholics. They have an addictive personality and drugs and alcohol are two things that are easily to become addicted to. Over eating and gambling are also very addictive and can become a problem with anyone who has an addictive personality or who has inherited the gene that leads to addiction.
I don’t think anyone sets out to become addicted, to sometimes ruin their lives and others, commit crimes, lose their jobs and become helpless and homeless, leading to despondency, suicidal thoughts and suicide, ruin their health and become unproductive and often outcasts. No, I don’t think anyone sets those things for goals. They are just addicts who decided to try the very things that they become addicted to. If you want to learn more about drug and alcohol, attend an open AA or Al-Anon meeting or google the two and educate yourself on addiction and what causes it.
I don’t know about other people but for me I started out of curiousity, boredom, and because I found out my parents did it. I continued using because it helped me escape and cope with bad things that life throws at you that you feel you have no control over…sometimes, it seemed like no one was there for me and I didn’t have a friend to turn to…but drugs were always there
